Omar Rodriguez-Lopez

A year an a half ago i went to Monterrey, México to make somo photos for Toy Selectah’s (ex Control Machete) current project Sonidero Nacional, he introduced me to the COLOMBIANOS culture were young guys and gals listent to cumbia and vallenato music (music that comes from Colombia), they like it so much that they have created a whole movement around it, from a dress code to a unique dance style. I went back to Monterrey at the end of december (2008) to make the photos for Volovan’s (a from MYT) new record, during my free time i went to the Cerro de la Campana (neighborhood where a lot of colombianos live) to do some portraits, Since i went on a sunday a lot of the people where sleeping being the saturday night when they go out with their best outfits and dance until the morning comes. i hope a can go back soon to continue with this series in the mean while here are some of the portraits i did.
